Q: Is the Hydrotherapy Circuit included with the price of a massage?
A: No it isn't. Like other spas with similar bathing areas, the Hydrotherapy Circuit isn't included in the cost of a massage. Clients who get massages are welcome to use our showers and lockers but they would need to purchase the Hydrotherapy Circuit seperately for use of the outside pools and the eucalyptus steam room.
Q: How long can I use the Hydrotherapy Circuit?
A: Most clients enjoy using our Hydrotherapy Circuit before and after their massages. Many stay for half a day. You are welcome to use it until we close at 7:00 pm.
Q: Do you have male and female massage therapists?
A: We have both male and female massage therapists. Some people are more comfortable with having either a male or female therapist work on them so if you have a preference please let us know when you book your massage.
Q: I have an injury and I'm hoping my massage will help alleviate my pain. Are your massages therapeutic or just for relaxation?
A: At The Gated Sanctuary we are dedicated to helping you with pain management and relaxation. Our massages can be both therapeutic and relaxing. Please make sure your massage therapist is aware of your injury and what you would like to get from your massage. Massage may help you with your pain and healing.
Q: Is The Gated Sanctuary hard to find?
A: No. The roads to get here are public roads and are well maintained. We are a short distance from both I-5 and from Highway 9. After turning onto our street, 14th St. NE, we are the first property on your left. Turn into the driveway and go around the lodge to find The Gated Sanctuary behind the bamboo fence at the top of the driveway.
There is an interactive map on our website under, "Contact Us and Directions." Click on the link for directions and you will be taken to Google Maps. Click on "Get Directions." Then enter your starting address and our address as your destination and you will be given detailed driving directions to The Gated Sanctuary.
Q: What are the temperatures of your pools?
A: Our hot pool is 104 degrees, our warm pool is 100 degrees, and the cold plunge is a brisk 62 degrees.
Q: Do you accept medical insurance?
A: We don't deal directly with your insurance company so you would need to pay us for the massage and then submit a claim to your insurance company. We could give you a statement with the proper insurance codes so you could get reimbursed from your insurance company.
Q: I have a group that would like to rent The Gated Sanctuary for a private retreat. Can I reserve The Gated Sanctuary for private functions?
A: Yes you can. You can reserve The Gated Sanctuary for a full day or part of a day. We normally close at 8pm but if you reserve The Gated Sanctuary for a group we can arrange extended hours. Please call us to discuss your plans. Overnight accomodations and catering for your private function can be arranged.
Q: Do you require draping during massages?
A: Even though our massage tables are heated people's hands and feet can get cold when lying undraped on a massage table. Draping allows for a much more enjoyable experience and keeps your hands and feet warm and cozy. It is a state requirement that all clients are offered a drape during massages. Whether or not you use a drape is up to you but we recommend the use of a drape.
Q: What kind of food do you have?
May I bring my own?
A: We offer complimentary snacks and beverages. Our snacks include a variety of granola-type bars, cookies, chips, dried fruits, and ice cream. If you plan to be here awhile and want more substantial food, such as salads and sandwiches, we recommend you bring your own. You are welcome to eat your own food while you are here. You may also keep your food in our refrigerator while you're here.

Thank you!

Q: Isn't it too cold and rainy to use the outside pools during the winter?
A: Not at all! There's nothing nicer than to soak in a hot or warm pool when it's cold outside. If it's raining or snowing it's even better! Your body is warm and comfortable while your face stays cool and refreshed.
Q: Is there a place to relax and be warm inside when it's cold out?
A: In the inside portion of the clothing optional area we have comfortable Thai benches for you to enjoy. You can also put on your sarong and relax in our luxurious reception area. Maybe you'd like to sit at our food bar and enjoy a complimentary snack or beverage, such as hot Japanese green tea, ice cream, or a warm chocolate chip cookie. Our massage rooms are very relaxing and inviting and if one of them isn't being used you can use it to spend some quiet time to yourself.
Q: What form of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, checks, credit (Visa MasterCard, and Discover) and debit cards.
Q: What part is clothing optional?
A: Our Hydrotherapy Circuit is the clothing optional portion of the spa. This includes our shower and locker area and steam room. It also includes the outside pools which are on a private deck surrounded by beautiful fencing and old growth cedar trees.
Q: What if I'm not comfortable being naked in front of others?
A: While most of our clients don't use bathing suits, others aren't completely comfortable being naked so if you prefer, you may use a bathing suit. (Since soap is bad for our pools, the only thing we ask is to please ensure your bathing suit is free from washing machine soap before you enter the pools. To ensure it is free from soap, we recommend you run it through a soap-free cycle in your washing machine.) We also have a private shower and changing room available for your comfort.
Q: Which days may I use the clothing optional Hydrotherapy Circuit?
A: The Hydrotherapy Circuit is open to women only on Thursdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. It is open to men only on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. And it is open to both men and women on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Q: I'm a single person. Can I still be in the clothing optional Hydrotherapy Circuit on coed days?
A: Yes. Our clientele on coed days are a mixture of couples and single men and women. All are welcome on coed days!
Q: Can I still get a massage on an opposite-sex day?
A: Yes you can. The massage rooms are in a different part of the spa than the clothing optional area so a woman, for example, could come here for a massage on a men's day. You wouldn't be able to use the Hydrotherapy Circuit and you wouldn't be able to use the showers or lockers on an opposite sex day.
Q: Are your massage therapists licensed?
A: All of our massage therapists are licensed by the state of Washington and are highly skilled and trained therapists.
Q: Do I need to bring anything with me to use the spa?
A: Probably not. We provide towels, a sarong, bodywash, and shampoo. Our lockers are security lockers, which are keyless, so you don't need to bring a lock. You don't need to wear anything on your feet but if you want to wear some kind of sandals or flip-flops please bring your own. Since we aren't a beauty spa, we don't provide personal items or toiletries, such as tooth brushes, deodorant, combs, razors, etc, so you may want to bring your own. We do have a blow dryer.
Q: I am pregnant. May I still get massage?
A: Before getting a massage you will need to give us a medical release form signed by your physician. We have a medical release form we can email to you.
Q: Can someone under the age of 18 use the facilities?
A: In order to use the Hydrotherapy Circuit you must be at least 18. Children under 18 may get a massage with parental consent. Please ask us for our Parental Consent Form prior to arriving. We can email it to you.
